MEMBER SERVICE |
|
The Quadrangle District, one of eight downtown districts in Cleveland, has served as a beacon for the City's resurgence of downtown Cleveland. Over the past twenty plus years, the Quadrangle has assisted the City of Cleveland in attracting businesses to the area; enhanced the appearance of neighborhoods; maximized the development potential of the district, developed linkages between adjacent neighborhoods; improved pedestrian and vehicular transportation; established streetscape guidelines; reinforced institutional development; encouraged retail business in specific areas; and converted vacant or underutilized buildings into residential uses.
The Quadrangle, Inc. makes member service its highest priority. Value is provided to its members by stimulating economic development, by making the development process easier, by bridging the gap between the private and public sectors, and by focusing the efforts of stakeholders inside and outside the district on common goals and mutual interests.
The Quadrangle serves as a catalyst to bring about positive change in this important district in downtown Cleveland. It brings together the leadership and resources of area stakeholders to address mutual concerns and to carry out projects that benefit the community and to nurture the growth of the district. Responsibilities include:
- Community planning and development.
- Assisting adjacent neighborhood growth and strengthening government relations.
- Enhancing the area's visual presence.
- Promoting the Quadrangle as one of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio's most important assets.
- Raising funds to support, improve and enhance the Quadrangle.
The Quadrangle alone cannot solve the problems of the urban poor or address the structural changes in the economy. It can be effective, however, in assisting local government to stem urban decay by focusing the collective efforts on reviving this vital area of Cleveland. Cleveland's educational institutions, medical facilities and social service agencies are a source of strength and stability at a time when major cities are struggling to maintain their position in society. When these institutions join together to address common concerns and to provide services and long range planning, their collective positive impact on at least a portion of the city can be substantial.
This synergy of organizations working together has been extremely effective but can be greatly strengthened in the future.
